 In Hindu mythology, it is believed that devas and Gods bathed in this majestic lake. It is also believed to be the “Indra Sarovar” as written in the Puranas. It is also believed that Deoria tal Lake was the place where the Pandavas brothers asked questions from Yaksha.

Deoria Tal Trek,  also known as Devaria or Deoriya, is a lake 2 km from the villages of Mastura and Sari on the Ukhimath-Chopta road in chopta Uttarakhand in India. At an altitude of 2,438 meters (7,999 ft), it has heavily wooded and lush green surroundings with snow-covered mountains in the backdrop.

Hindus believe that the Devas took bath in this lake, hence its name. The lake is also believed to be the Indra Sarovar referred to in Hindu scriptures by wandering Hindu mendicants and Sadhus. It is also believed that it was the place from which great heroes such as Arjuna were asked questions by Yaksha. The locals say it was also said that this lake was built by Bheem, who was the strongest among the Pandavas, to quench his thirst, and Yudhister suggested that Bheem construct his own lake.

Uttarakhand is well connected by motorable roads to major cities of India. Deoria Tal is situated at a distance of 420 km from the capital Delhi. The nearest rail head is Rishikesh railway station. From the Rishikesh Chopta region where Deoriyatal is situated, one can drive about 225 km by road. The nearest airport is Jolly Grant Airport at Dehradun. Deoria Tal is located at a trekking distance of 2 km from Sari Village, where you can find quaint Sari Bazaar with its many shops and restaurants serving delicious food items like Dahi puri and lassi.
